To continue the 32 year legacy of retiring Sheriff Mike Hennessey
Sheriff Hennessey has established a strong foundation of effective programs that deal with violence, substance abuse and recovery, and education. I believe we must ensure the continuation of these programs and the successes they have had in the reduction of crimes committed by individuals reintroduced into the community.
The Plan:
Growth from within
To continue the current course and maintain safe staffing levels while exploring additional avenues of ensuring training for sworn and non-sworn staff.
To continue to provide programs and funding for each inmate who engages with the tools provided to work towards a better life upon release from our custody.
Re-examining the organizational structure of our Department to ensure efficiency.
Aggressively pursue grants and all other sources of funding available to not just maintain the status quo, but to provide for anticipated requests for increased public safety services.
More interaction with other criminal justice agencies to chart the course of arrested persons and assistance provided at each step of the criminal justice process. In order to improve efficiency and do more with smaller budgets, we must ensure a coordinated approach to addressing the needs of the individuals in the criminal justice process.
With over 15 years of experience in the Sheriff’s Department, I know what works and what doesn’t. We don’t have to change what we do, just how we do it. I will strive to ensure that the programs remain relevant to the changing needs of our community.
The Goal:
More with less
We will continue the programs in place, streamlining what works and anticipating changes in the criminal justice system that will expand our Department’s role in public safety. As the Sheriff, my goal is to ensure the effective re-integration of individuals from custody into our community. Reducing the chances of re-offending means increasing public safety for us all.
